Building Neighbors: Metro RFQ submitted!

On Dec 1, in partnership with with Second Stories, PCRI, Urban League and NW Pilot Project, we submitted our Metro Housing Bond RFQ. This is the first, and HUGE, step towards welcoming new neighbors! The last week before submission was a flurry of gathering details negotiating relationships, and clarifying partnerships. It is clear that we share a common vision for caring for our vulnerable black and elderly neighbors. We will be building housing for folks at the 30-50% MFI, people who really need inexpensive housing.

FREE Influenza Flu Shot Clinic

Hand Up Project is hosting a FREE Influenza Flu Shot Clinic  The Multnomah County Health Dept is providing influenza immunizations at no charge to those in need.  Houseless and other disenfranchised individuals may obtain a free influenza immunization next week at both Hand Up Project distribution locations:  Monday, December 14th, 12:00 to 200pm at Q Center  4115 N. Rector’s Note: Building Neighbors

We want to be a haven for our neighbors. Every concern shared, every hope expressed, was infused by the heart of St. Philip: we have always been a haven for those unwelcome elsewhere, and we want to continue to cherish them as our beloved neighbors.

Making time for our children

The Children’s Ministry Team is developing plans to provide our kids with virtual opportunities to interact with our liturgy and each other. The program will launch on Sunday, October 11th at 11:15 on the same zoom link as Morning Prayer. Each session will last 40 minutes.

Packing with Dignity!

Backpacks hold more than school books and hiking gear! A generous and faithful group of women from St. Philip the Deacon have been sewing and filling 200 string backpacks with personal care items for men and women.  The brainchild of Viola Horton, each bag is filled with the specific needs of men and women in mind. Invitation from the Commission to End Racism

The Commission to End Racism would like to invite the people of the Diocese of Oregon to participate in one of two forums next week with the Rev. Isaiah Shaneequa Brokenleg, Episcopal Church Center staff officer for Racial Reconciliation. There will be two forums, one designed for lay persons and the other for clergy. The Rev. The People’s Pantry Needs You!

Volunteers wanted for emergency “shopping style” food pantry operations. The Hand Up Project operates The Peoples Pantry, a “shopping style” emergency food pantry.   St Philip the Deacon hosts The Peoples Pantry on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. The Peoples Pantry also operates out of the Q Center on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month.
