Walking and Talking: Meditating Together
Last Sunday (Jan 30th) a group of St. Philip folks walked the block around Matt Dishman Community Center, observing the weather, the creatures, the land that surrounds our church. The purpose of a Walking Meditation is to use all our senses to experience our parish neighborhood at a deeper level – the land, the trees and plantings, the creatures, and the neighbors who reside close to STPD. Annual Meeting Liturgy: January 23rd
Our Annual Meeting is woven into our Sunday Eucharist as a reminder that it is the work of every other day of the week that makes our work together on Sundays possible, and it is our work on Sunday to celebrate in gratitude and hope the many ways in which God works through us as individuals and as a community.
Kumoricon Supports Hand Up
Kumoricon has a long history of giving back to the local community. Since 2005, Kumoricon has hosted a Charity Auction benefiting a local charity. In 2018, they raised over $12,000 toward OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and The Greeney Family Fund for Japanese Track Scholarships. Help Steward St. Philip: 2021 Project Resource Virtual Conference
The Diocese of Oregon has partnered with the Diocese of Olympia for the 2021 Project Resource Virtual Conference. This conference will help our parish learn about year-round stewardship, build a step-by-step plan for a 2021 Fall annual campaign, and learn about technological and cultural strategies.

St. Philip is hiring a parish administrator!
Hours: 18 hrs/wk. Expected in-office hours 2-3 days week, Tuesday-Friday.
Compensation: $20/hr.
Reports to: Parish Rector
Tuesday Evening Bible Study and Vespers
Join us for Tuesday evening bible study at 7pm and at 8:15pm as we pray together by chanting an evening service in a manner that reflects elements of an Eastern Christian vesper service.

I enjoyed the work of preparing the meeting, and the meeting itself, because God really is in the details, and the love God has for all creation is so clear in and through this community. We keep saying “yes” to God, and God keeps saying “yes” to us.
Making time for our children
The Children’s Ministry Team is developing plans to provide our kids with virtual opportunities to interact with our liturgy and each other. The program will launch on Sunday, October 11th at 11:15 on the same zoom link as Morning Prayer. Each session will last 40 minutes.
Packing with Dignity!
Backpacks hold more than school books and hiking gear! A generous and faithful group of women from St. Philip the Deacon have been sewing and filling 200 string backpacks with personal care items for men and women. The brainchild of Viola Horton, each bag is filled with the specific needs of men and women in mind. The completed bags are then sent to the HIV Day Center run by the Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon. Invitation from the Commission to End Racism
The Commission to End Racism would like to invite the people of the Diocese of Oregon to participate in one of two forums next week with the Rev.
