Holy Week Services at St. Philip

While Easter, the resurrection, is celebrated every Sunday, Holy Week is like one great Sunday. It begins with a triumphal (perhaps sarcastically so) entrance into Jerusalem, and continues through the Great Three Days—the Triduum. The week forms one long, ancient, liturgy that begins with celebration, moves into compassion and forgiveness, walks us through our fear-filled and violent rejection of God, and ends in the ultimate grace of God’s persistent love for all creation. COME JOIN US!

Walking and Talking: Meditating Together

Last Sunday (Jan 30th) a group of St. Philip folks walked the block around Matt Dishman Community Center, observing the weather, the creatures, the land that surrounds our church. The purpose of a Walking Meditation is to use all our senses to experience our parish neighborhood at a deeper level – the land, the trees and plantings, the creatures, and the neighbors who reside close to STPD. Afterwards, we gathered to share our perceptions, thoughts, and feelings about the experience.…

Annual Meeting Liturgy: January 23rd

Our Annual Meeting is woven into our Sunday Eucharist as a reminder that it is the work of every other day of the week that makes our work together on Sundays possible, and it is our work on Sunday to celebrate in gratitude and hope the many ways in which God works through us as individuals and as a community.

First Sunday of Advent at St. Philip

At St. Philip, we reflect an awareness that going deeper into God is about responding to God’s work and play in our lives and the world around us now. A deep and authentic spiritual life is rooted in responding with God and God’s prophets to this place, to this time, to this neighborhood, in this body (and bodies). Come, join us, as we continue to hear the stories of God told to children and elders alike. Wonder with us. Journey with us.

We are worshipping in-person!

This is a reminder that we are now gathering in-person for Sunday Eucharist. We made this decision at the end of August, and have been gathering every Sunday in-person since then. It has been lovely to be in person again, to hear our voices praying in word and song together. Being Healthy, Together Our congregation is almost entirely vaccinated. Due to the Delta variant, we are asking everyone to mask when in the building. Masking keeps us and those around…

Rectors Note: Worshiping Together Again!

Worship with us, outside, in-person, on Pentecost, May 23rd! Boxed lunches will be served after the service. As a community, we are committed to caring for one another. We are also committed to following scientific recommendations. If you are vaccinated, masks are optional. If you are not vaccinated, masks and social distancing are required. Masks and vaccines are a form of caring for yourself and others.
