Hello St. Philip family.
I’m excited to share that soon we will be putting action behind our words. For a long time now, we as a community have said that we hope to attract more individuals and families to our church — well now’s our chance! Next week the children’s ministry team will be debuting our new Pray-ground.
What is a Pray-ground? You ask. Our Pray-ground is going to be a space at the very front of the church where children can play quietly, worship, and participate in the Sunday Eucharist at their discretion. We’ve done our research and with time, Pray-grounds have proven to be successful once everyone figures out the nuances of having a Pray-ground in the sanctuary.
Just like our church our Pray-ground is welcoming to all. Kids of all ages and adults are welcome to sit in or near the Pray-ground area. We invite the congregation to embrace this space and our children. Our hope is that you will share in caring for our children by sitting with them from time to time, whether or not you have a child worshipping in the Pray-ground. This sharing the responsibility of caring for our children is what community is all about. Below please find the Pray-ground guidelines:

To get this space kicked off right, next Sunday, Sept. 16, we invite everyone to stay afterwards to learn about the space and how it’s to be used. There will also be time for adults to ask any questions you might have about this space. Please bring your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, and friends. Everyone is invited to play in our new Pray-ground!
For this to be successful, we need your help. We are giving this a try between now and Lent, and there will surely be kinks to work out. Your feedback is welcome and requested. Feel free to email me with any questions, comments, concerns or suggestions (my email is listed at the bottom) or talk with Rev. Maria. Please know that this is a trial and everyone’s feedback will be taken into consideration before any permanent decisions are made.
My hope is that our children feel welcomed in church and gain a deeper love and connection with God.
